Magnificent renaissance Church
This impressive renaissance church lies in central Kristianstad, Scania southern Sweden. It is sometimes listed as the finest renaissance church in northern Europe. It was intended to be the new Cathedral when the diocese in Lund was split, but the peace treaty in Roskilde 1658 ended that plan.
It has a large open nave with a high ceiling and slim stone columns. The church organ is fantastic with lots of details and figures. See the images below for details of the organ. Pipe organ builder was Johan Lorentz d.ä (Wikipedia).
Built between 1618 and 1628 by Christian IV when Scania was Danish. The later piece is from Holland.
In Swedish the name is “Heliga Trefaldighets kyrka“.
The architect was the Dutchman Lorenz van Steenwinckel.
