The biggest religious building in Ystad
The largest church in Ystad in southernmost Sweden. The oldest parts are from 1275, and the church tower was added in the 17th century. The tower still has a Tower Guard, that has watched over Ystad since 1748. He keeps an eye on the city to find fires.
To warn people he has a bronze horn he blows in, and he also gives the time. One signal 15 minutes after whole hours, two signals every half hour, three signals 15 minutes to whole hours, and four signals every whole hour. The guard is employed by the city and the time is nowadays only given between 21.15 and 01.00.
If he sees a fire today, he calls the fire brigade on his mobile, of course.
